This page contains a number of brochures aimed at introducing GSIM and the work of the High Level Group for the Modernisation of Statistical Production and Services.

Communication Paper

An overview about the information represented in GSIM, and summaries of how the model will benefit statistical organizations and relationships to other models and standards.

User Guide

The document contains information to help users understand what a conceptual model is. It provides guides to help understand GSIM, explains how GSIM can be used as a communication tool and describes the steps to be taken to implement GSIM at a business and technical level. The document also includes information on how some early adopters of GSIM intend to use the model. This document should be read in conjunction with either the GSIM Communication paper or the GSIM Specification.

Specification

This is aimed at metadata specialists, information architects and solutions architects. This document includes descriptions of information in a statistical organization. There are also a number of annexes, which include information about the the GSIM extension methodology, links and influences of existing standards, a glossary and UML class diagrams.

Enterprise Architect file

This file is for users who want to fully explore the UML model. You need to have the Enterprise Architect program installed. Extracts from the UML can be found in Annex D of the GSIM Specification

Glossary

This page contains the glossary of GSIM information objects (this is also found in Annex C of the GSIM Specification).

Presentations and Posters

This page contains presentations that have been given at various conferences and workshops, as well as a number of posters which can be used to promote and explain GSIM.

Tool kit

This page contains the source diagrams used in the GSIM documentation and presentations. Statistical organisations can use these to create organisation specific versions of documents etc

Discussion Forum

As organisations begin to use GSIM, this discussion forum will be used to explore issues with the model or propose extensions to the model.
