Statistics New Zealand, like many NSOs, is struggling to manage its costs and find a way to slow its declining response rates and improve the experience of respondents to requests for information. A multi-year programme of change aims to bring the internet option to respondents. Work is also underway within subject matter areas to identify new sources of administrative data, or other sources of data, to produce statistical information at a lower cost with a reduced respondent burden – in a timely manner and to consistent quality standards.
