NEW GSIM Development Project Update

Following the sprints held earlier this year, the development of GSIM continues with the approval of the GSIM Development Project Business Plan by HLG-BAS on 8 June 2012. The project, which runs from May until the end of December 2012, involves the establishment of virtual teams that will complete the development of GSIM for public review and implementation testing in 2013.

At this stage, four 'specification layer' task teams have been set up and work is under way. The teams includes business experts from statistical organizations, as well as information modelling specialists. Each is focussing on documenting details of the information objects contained in different parts of the V0.4 model :

1. Statistical Program and Acquisition Program
2. Conceptual
3. Production
4. Information and Dissemination Program

The teams will produce the first draft of the GSIM specification layer by early September. Guidance from modelling experts and an overarching GSIM Integration Team will ensure that the work is harmonized and can be integrated into a consistent and coherent model for the next release of GSIM in early October.
