Documentation of GSIM has been layered to address the needs of different audiences, from general readers who want a broad understanding of GSIM to developers who want to ensure an implementation they are developing is fully consistent with the GSIM Reference Framework.
GSIM: Communication Paper - This document provides an overview about the information represented in GSIM, and summaries of how the model will benefit statistical organizations and relationships to other models and standards.
GSIM User Guide - The document contains information to help users understand what a conceptual model is. It provides guides to help understand GSIM, explains how GSIM can be used as a communication tool and describes the steps to be taken to implement GSIM at a business and technical level. The document also includes information on how some early adopters of GSIM intend to use the model. This document should be read in conjunction with either the GSIM Communication paper or the GSIM Specification.
GSIM: Specification - This is is aimed at metadata specialists, information architects and solutions architects. This document includes descriptions of information in a statistical organization. There are also a number of annexes, which include information about the the GSIM extension methodology, links and influences of existing standards, a glossary and UML class diagrams.
