In line with paragraph 8 of the terms of reference for the Steering Group on Statistical Metadata, the Bureau of the Conference of European Statisticians reviewed progress on the development of the Common Metadata Framework at its October 2009 meeting.
The Bureau was presented with a summary of progress to date, and was specifically asked to comment on the final draft of Part A, which was almost ready for publishing, and version 4.0 of the Generic Statistical Business Process Model.
The conclusion of the Bureau was as follows:
"The Bureau considered the Common Metadata Framework very useful and supported the
continuation of this work. The text of Part A should be edited to make it more approachable to
non-specialists. The Bureau encouraged countries to contribute case studies to the CMF."
