Istat suggests to move the following sub-process, including it into form= er sub-process 5.5 (see above).
6.1. Prepare draft outputs - This sub-process = is where the data collected are transformed into statistical outputs. It in= cludes the production of additional measurements such as indices, trends or= seasonally adjusted series, as well as the recording of quality characteri= stics.
5.5. Derive new variables, statistical units and indicators<= /em> - This sub-process derives (values for) variables and statist= ical units that are not explicitly provided in the collection, but are need= ed to deliver the required outputs. It derives new variables by applying ar= ithmetic formulae to one or more of the variables that are already present = in the dataset. This may need to be iterative, as some derived variables ma= y themselves be based on other derived variables. It is therefore important= to ensure that variables are derived in the correct order. New statistical= units may be derived by aggregating or splitting data for collection units= , or by various other estimation methods. Examples include deriving househo= lds where the collection units are persons, or enterprises where the collec= tion units are legal units.
Data collected are also transform= ed into other statistical outputs, through the production of additional mea= surements such as indices, trends or seasonally adjusted series, as well as= the recording of quality characteristics.
