Dear colleagues,

I am sending this message to those who have already participated in the dialogue, expressed an interest to join, or have been proposed by others.

The third session of the informal SDMX / DDI Dialogue is scheduled to take place next Monday, 2 May in Washington DC during the lunch break of the SDMX Global Conference. The draft agenda is as follows:

1. Review of the actions from the last session (Lisbon) - http://www1.unece.org/stat/platform/download/attachments/59015408/DDI+SDMX+Dialogue+30+March.doc?version=1

2. Update on the Generic Statistical Information Model (GSIM) - initial reactions to the note recently posted on the METIS wiki http://www1.unece.org/stat/platform/display/metis/Generic+Statistical+Information+Model+%28GSIM%29

3. Comparing vocabularies and terminology between DDI and SDMX - any volunteers to take this forwards?

4. Business cases for collaboration between DDI and SDMX (Alistair Hamilton, Australian Bureau of Statistics)

5. How and where to continue the dialogue - options for further sessions during 2011 include on the margins of:
a) the IASSIST conference in Vancouver, 30 May to 3 June
b) the Eurostat Metadata Working Group in Luxembourg, 9-10 June
c) the METIS Workshop in Geneva, 5-7 October
d) EDDI meeting in Gothenburg, late 2011
e) others?

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend, so I would like to ask Alistair Hamilton and Arofan Gregory to facilitate the discussion. The World Bank has kindly agreed to find a suitable location, so please look out for Alistair and Arofan at the end of the morning session of the SDMX Global Conference.

For more information on the dialogue so far, please see: http://www1.unece.org/stat/platform/display/metis/SDMX+DDI+Dialogue+-+Overview+Page

Best regards,

Steve
