*Total Quality Management (TQM)

The editing process should collect accounting and auditing information. By capturing raw data and keeping track of the changes and the reasons for them, it is possible to not only estimate the impact of editing and imputation but also to evaluate the performance of the survey questionnaire. One of the two basic elements in the TQM approach to survey processing is to analyze such data and feed back the findings for improvement in staff training, system design and form design. The other element is the principle of getting the data right the first time.
