From 29 April – 1 May 2015, UNECE's Data Collection Steering Group will hold a workshop on statistical data collection, hosted by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, D.C. The workshop will emphasize participant involvement and interaction. It will include target-driven small group discussions, practical demonstrations, a panel discussion, posters and short presentations, in addition to the more traditional presentations and written papers.…
The New Techniques and Technologies for Statistics (NTTS) is an international biennial scientific conference series (organised by Eurostat) on new techniques and methods for official statistics, and the impact of new technologies on statistical collection, production and dissemination systems.

 The conference topics include, but are not limited to:

 Pilot experiments and experiments embedded in statistical production

  • Data collection modes
  • Non-response, response propensity, respondent behaviour and response burden
  • Administrative and registry data
  • Big Data and other non-traditional Data Sources
  • Versatile data collection systems (adaptive surveys, modular surveys/systems, split questionnaires…)
  • Horizontally integrated data collection systems


The NTTS 2015 conference will take place from 10 to 12 March 2015 in Brussels. For details on the event, please refer to the conference homepage.

As of September 2015, the Organizing Committee will begin planning the next seminar on data collection. Date and location are still to be confirmed. All previous participants will be informed as soon as we have further details available. It is intended that the seminar will have a joint day alongside the UNECE expert group on Dissemination and Communication, permitting one or more joint sessions on the interface between collection and communication.…
