This chapter describes, how the project overviews and details could be maintained. This includes the relevant activities for:

2.1 Maintain Working Group Overview Page

Every ODP step milestone of a project should be updated at the working group overview page. The working group overview page may be reached by clicking on the relevant link at title of the specific Working Group at the "List of Project" page.

An update is only possible, if you are logged in and have the sufficient permissions. If this is the case, you can click on "Edit" at the left navigation pane. You will get the following representation:

You can edit and update the following general information:

  • Working Group Chair - The name of the working group chair, which must be one name of the list of registered users, and the e-mail address (without -). If a working group chair is not identified, please use "TBD".
  • Working Group Vice Chair - The name of the working group vice chair, which must be one name of the list of registered users, and the e-mail address (without -). If a working group vice chair is not identified, please use "TBD".

You can edit and update the following information for each project:

  • Project Name - The complete name or title of the project
  • Project Chair - The name of the project chair, which must be one name of the list of registered users, and the e-mail address (without -). If a project chair is not identified, please use "TBD".
  • Start Date - The official start date of the complete project.
  • End Date - The approximate or official end date of the project. Whereby the end date is the end date of ODP Step 7, because the ODP Step 8 could be infinitely long. It is the approximate end date as long as the ODP Step 7 is not finalized.
  • ODP1 - 7 - The status of each project steps, whereby following options could be selected:
    • -- - Open
    • - In Progress
    • - Finalized
      Please consider that a the status "In Progress" could be only selected after status "Open", and "Finalized" could be only selected after status "In Progress". Only, if a ODP Step is finalized (shown by status "Finalized), the next ODP Step can start with the status "In Progress".
  • Aim of <YYYY> (Year) - The estimated ODP Step of each project at the end of a specific year.

2.2. Maintain Project Details Page

Every significant activity of a ODP step of a project should be updated at the project details page. The project details page could be reached by clicking on the relevant link at column "Project Title" at the Working Group Overview Page.

An update is only possible, if you have the sufficient permissions and are also logged in. If this is the case, you can click on "Edit" at the left navigation pane. You will get the following representation:

Please consider that every status information should be always aligned with the status information at the Working Group Overview Page.

You can edit and update the following general information:









  • Name - Abbreviation and complete name of the project
  • Project Chair - The name of the project chair, which must be one name of the list of registered users, and the e-mail address (without -). If a project chair is not identified, please use "TBD".
  • Lead Editor - The name of the project chair, which must be one name of the list of registered users, and the e-mail address (without -). If a lead editor is not identified, please use "TBD".
  • Version - The version number of the specification and the type of the current status of the specification, which could be:
    • Project Proposal
    • Requirements List
    • Working Draft
    • Technical Specifcation

You can edit and update the following information for each ODP Status (1-8):

  • ODP1 - 7 - The status of each project steps, whereby following options could be selected:
    • -- - Open
    • - In Progress
    • - Finalized
      Please consider that a the status "In Progress" could be only selected after status "Open", and "Finalized" could be only selected after status "In Progress". Only, if a ODP Step is finalized (shown by status "Finalized), the next ODP Step can start with the status "In Progress".
  • ODP Start Date - The approximate or official start date of each project step. It is a approximate start date as long as the specific ODP Step has still the status "Open".
  • ODP End Date - The approximate or official end date of each project step. It is a approximate end date as long as the specific ODP Step has still the status "Open" or even "In Progress".
  • Step Status - The interim status of each ODP Step. The diverse possibilities of statuses of each ODP step are described below:
    • Different status options of ODP Step 1 (The Proposal):
      1. Not Started
      2. Initiate and Create
      3. Designation (Chair + Editor)
      4. Group Review
      5. Approval by TMG
      6. Approval by FMG
      7. Call for Participation (30 Days)
      8. Finalized
    • Different status options of ODP Step 2 (The Requirements List):
      1. Call for Collection (30 Days)
      2. Analysis and Structuring
      3. Editing of List
      4. Group Review
      5. Approval by TMG
      6. Approval by FMG
      7. Finalized
    • Different status options of ODP Step 3 (1st Working Draft):
      1. Call for Contribution (30 Days)
      2. Analysis and Structuring
      3. Editing of Draft

  • Relevant Documents - The relevant documents should provide links to the most relevant information of each ODP step. The notation of the link is [pagetitle], which creates an internal hyperlink to the specified page in the desired space (or the current one if you don't specify any space).
    • Following information should be provided at the first line:
  • *# The Proposal - The final version and draft versions of the proposal of a new project
    1. The Requirements List - The final or most actual version of requirements list of the project
    2. 1st Working Draft - The final or most actual version of 1st working draft of the project
    3. Internal Review - The final or most actual reviewed versions of working drafts
    4. Public Review - The final or most actual reviewed versions of working drafts
    5. Implementation Verification - The final or most actual specification that is the basis for implementation verification
    6. Final Technical Specification Release - The final technical specification
    7. Maintenance - Nothing
    • Additional links to documents that accompanied the work of each ODP step could be also provided by additional lines. Following documents could be interested for each ODP step:
  • *# The Proposal - Suggestions of proposals
    1. The Requirements List - Detailed descriptions of requirements
    2. 1st Working Draft - Position papers, contributions, relevant specifications and comparable standards
    3. Internal Review of the First Working Draft - Detailed descriptions and suggestions for specific comments
    4. Public Review - Detailed descriptions and suggestions for specific comments
    5. Implementation Verification - Detailed descriptions about suggestions and improvements
    6. Final Technical Specification Release - Whitepapers, Guidelines, Cookbooks, surrounded stuff
    7. Maintenance - Detailed descriptions about problems, suggestions, and improvements that can be used for restarting the projects.

2.3. Maintain Project ODP Step Details Page

2.4. Uploading Documents

To attach a file to a page:

  1. Go to the details page of a specific ODP step of a project 
  2. Go to upload area at the lower page of the "Information" tab.
  3. Browse through your files and select the file you'd like to attach.
  4. Enter a description for the attachment in the 'Comment' text field (optional).
  5. Click 'Attach more files' if required.
  6. Click 'Attach File'.

In order to categorize correctly, please use the following prefix in the filenames:

  • "Specification..." for category "Specifications"
  • "CommentLog..." for category "Comment Logs"
  • "ChangeRequest..." for category "Change Requests"
  • "Contribution..." for category "Contributions"
  • "Presentation..." for category "Presentations"   

To create a new version of an existing attachment, simply upload an attachment with the same filename. The existing file will be kept as Version 1, and can be accessed from the page's "Information" tab.
